Castro Lab

Felipe González Castro is professor of clinical psychology in the Department of Psychology, Arizona State University. Dr. Castro’s research uses an ecodevelopmental framework to model the effects of cultural factors as risk or protective factors influencing wellness on disease outcomes, including the use of alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs, and type 2 diabetes. He has developed an integrative mixed methods (qualitative-quantitative) approach for the conduct of more probing prevention research and prevention intervention development. Dr. Castro is collaborating with Arizona State University’s Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center in developing and evaluating a parent education intervention to enhance the effectiveness of the keepin’ it REAL youth drug use prevention intervention. Dr. Castro serves as an associate editor for the journals Prevention Science and the American Journal of Public Health. |
