Fun Lab Pics

Dr. Ryan Wright marched through graduation ceremonies on December 2007. His proud mentor, Dr. Cheryl Conrad, officially "hooded" him on his graduation day.

As part of Ryan's graduation present, he was given an "appropriate" lab coat by Sarah and Mac. The lab coat is adorned with lovely red cherries.

Congratulations to Dr. Wright and Dr. McLaughlin, both of whom successfully defended their dissertations in the fall 2007 semester.  They received an appropriately decorated cake with Yoda on it, calling them "O Wise Ones!"

On September 12, 2008, Dr. Baran successfully defended her dissertation and was surprised when all of her dear "comrads" showed up to offer moral support. Left to right is Ryan, Mac, Sarah and Art.
Dr. Baran is the reigning Queen for the day of her Dissertation Defense and surrounded by Ryan and Mac.
Dr. Baran's graduation gift was a lunch pail so that she would not forget to bring her lunch at her new postdoctoral position at U. Michigan

Art, Cheryl, Ryan, Sarah, and Mac...enjoying each other's company again before they all disperse to their current jobs in other states (except Cheryl---she stays at ASU!)

On Krystal Dorathy's birthday, Annie Hoffman made her a "brain cake," complete with squishy frosting brains and blue eyeballs!!!!
Cheryl Conrad is in front of the "Past Graduate Student Caricature Hall of Fame" wall. Past graduate students have started the tradition of having their portraits made in caricature and then presenting them to Cheryl. Now, even though the students have gone, they continue to have a presence in the lab!
The Conrad Lab is presenting two of our posters at the 2008 Society for Neuroscience conference in Washington DC, Left to right is Michelle, Danielle, Sarah, Charles, Annie, Cheryl, Mariam, Thu and Katie.  Sarah's poster on the left is now In Press at the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory!
