Resources for Developmental Research

 
The psychology department houses the Child Study Laboratory, attended by more than 100 preschool children, which has facilities for both laboratory and naturalistic research projects. In addition, the program has a mobile laboratory that is available for research off-site.

 

 
The Child Development Laboratory (CDL) provides -quality early childhood education and childcare for young children from two years old through 5 years old.

 

 
The PRC is part of the Psychology Department at Arizona State University, and was established in 1984 as an NIMH funded Center to develop, evaluate and disseminate prevention programs for children and families in high stress situations. Research at the Center focuses on children and families experiencing four different stressors, parental divorce, poverty, bereavement, and parental job loss. The Prevention Research Center conducts four kinds of studies.

 

    

The Scottsdale Unified School District has 31 schools serving about 26,000 students. More than 3,000 persons are employed by the district, including about 1,700 teachers.

The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) is focused on developing earlier diagnostics and smarter treatments. Translational genomics research is a relatively new field employing innovative advances arising from the Human Genome Project and applying them to the development of diagnostics, prognostics and therapies for cancer, neurological disorders, diabetes and other complex diseases.

 

ISSR         


The Institute for Social Science Research is housed in over 10,000 square feet of office and laboratory research space in ASU’s recently completed Lattie Coor Hall (2004). This includes a 17-station telephone interviewing facility with CATI capability and silent monitoring. The ISSR also has training and conference rooms that have full media support, focus group rooms, and an observational research suite. Additional facilities include offices for center directors, assigned project research space, graduate assistant offices, secured storage areas, reception desk, and a waiting room for study participants.
