Kenrick/Neuberg Lab

How do evolved motives (avoiding disease, gaining status, finding a mate) influence our social behavior?

Who in a crowd do we pay attention to and remember, and why? Do we make different investment decisions when scared than when feeling romantic? How well can we judge the emotions on others’ faces? We are working to answer a range of questions that all look at how motives that evolved in humans for thousands of years affect our behavior today.
