Undergraduate Research Assistants

 

  Claudia Valles is a research assistant in the program and is currently working to complete her BA in Psychology with a minor in Family and Human Development. She is interested in understanding the neuropsychology of anxiety and depression in pediatric epilepsy patients. She will be pursuing an advanced degree in the next few years in clinical neuropsychology, and plans to provide neuropsychological rehabilitation to underrepresented populations.
  Gabriela Hurtado is a research assistant in the program and is currently working to complete her BA in Psychology with a minor in Family and Human Development. She will be pursuing an advanced degree over the next few years with concentrations in child development and Speech and Hearing Science.
  Julianne Mayer is a research assistant in the program and currently is working to complete her BA in Psychology with a minor in French. She will be pursuing an advanced degree over the next few years, and after completing her training she hopes to provide psychosocial treatment services to suburban and urban adolescents.

  

Juventino Hernandez Rodriguez is a research assistant in the program and is currently working to complete his BA in Psychology. He is interested in research that informs theory about the etiology of internalizing disorders, particularly their onset during adolescence. He hopes to advance knowledge about emotional, cognitive, and behavioral shifts that are mediated by socioeconomic status and interpersonal hardships and typically lead to problems in anxiety, depression, and substance use. The overall objective of his line of research is to develop and evaluate preventive interventions targeting ethnic minority and are aimed at pre-empting these maladaptive outcomes.

  Lauren Gajewski is a research assistant in the program. She is currently pursuing a BA in Psychology as well as a BA in Mathematics. She is interested in the etiology of mental health problems and hopes to develop a career focused on identifying risk and resilience factors with potential for preempting disorder development. Lauren will be pursuing a doctoral degree in either clinical psychology or quantitative methods for psychology.
  Brian Bunnell is an undergraduate research assistant in the lab and is currently working to complete his BA in Psychology. Brian is interested in the development and course of mental health problems in youth. He would like to pursue an doctoral degree over the next few years in clinical psychology and plans to help improve the treatment of childhood behavior problems by identifying evidence-based mechanisms of child behavior change. His career goal is to conduct his research in a university setting where he can also teach and mentor students.
  Charlene Iczkowski is working to complete a BS in psychology with a
focus on child growth and development. In the coming years, she plans
to pursue a degree in pediatric medicine. At that time, she hopes to
receive specialized education and training in the management of
pregnancy, labor, and pueperium. She is interested in providing
medical and surgical care to women and would like to develop
particular expertise in pregnancy, childbirth, and disorders of the
reproductive system. She may provide care in hospital or clinic
settings.
