The Puentes a la Secundaria / Bridges to High School is family-focused prevention program to help Mexican/ Mexican American adolescents succeed in school and other important life areas, such as work and relationships
The Puentes a la Secundaria / Bridges to High School program is a family-focused prevention program to help Mexican/ Mexican American adolescents succeed in school and other important life areas, such as work and relationships. In collaboration with several schools, approximately 550 Mexican-origin 7th graders and their parents participated in the program between 2003 and 2005. Currently, we are interviewing families 5 years after their participation in the program to assess program effects on adolescents and families. We also intend to interview families again at 7 years after their participation. As a research assistant on the Puentes/Bridges team, you will be involved in the development of the battery of measures to be administered to study participants at this 7-year follow-up as well as gain general knowledge and skills that will make you a competitive candidate for a graduate program in clinical psychology.
Below are some of the available opportunities to you as a research assistant on the Bridges/Puentes project:
1. Taking the online Human Subject Protection certification exams.
2. Attending weekly team meetings and collaboration with other RAs.
3. Transcription, thematic coding and analysis of qualitative texts.
4. Aid in data collection, entry, data cleaning, and in selected data analyses
5. Literature reviews
