Internship

Internship Overview:

The Department of Psychology is committed to providing a limited number of students each semester with an opportunity to sign up for an internship.  The internship provides students with skills and experiences that will enhance their educational and career prospects.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Student must be pursuing a BA or BS in Psychology from the Tempe campus
  • Student must have completed at least 45 credit hours at time of application and be at least a junior at time of internship.
  • Student must have at least a 2.75 GPA
  • Internship dates must coincide with semester calendar
  • Internships may partially fulfill the "Additional Psychology Course Requirements"
  • Internships cannot be paid
  • Internship must provide student with opportunities that are directly related to the application of principles of psychology.

Process: Securing a site and Registering for the PGS 484 internship experience

DISCOVER

  1. Review course information regarding eligibility and requirements for PGS 484 credit  Internship Handbook
  2. Identify your goals:  Career Services STEPS Career Guide Review and complete through page 61

PREPARE

Prepare your materials to submit to a potential site

  • Prepare or polish your resume
  • Have your resume reviewed by Career Services before sending it
  • Prepare a cover letter
  • Research sites - list of 3-5 potential sites
    Who do they serve?
    What types of programs do they offer?
    Where are they located, etc.?

CONTACT

  1. Contact the site to set up a meeting to discuss the internship position
  2. Compile all necessary documentation

FINALIZE

Meet with instructor for internship approval and approval to register for PGS 484

NO LATE ADDS available for the internship experience
