Body Project

RAs will be trained to run the Body Project and serve as peer leaders. In addition, they will assist with the data management.

The Body Project is a cognitive-dissonance based body acceptance program that was designed to help adolescent girls and college women resist societal pressures to be unrealistically thin and reduce their pursuit of thinness.  This program has been heavily tested and found that it reduces thin ideal internalization, body dissatisfaction, unhealthy dieting, and eating disorder symptoms. This program reduces the onset of eating disorders and obesity for up to three years. The best part about the program is that it is fun, and takes two, 2-hour sessions. This is a peer-led program, so I train undergraduate women who run the program.
