Postdoctoral research scholar recruiting
For questions about recruiting or hiring a postdoctoral research scholar, contact Stephanie Rojo in the Business Office.
Postdoctoral scholars are individuals who have recently completed a doctoral degree and are pursuing a full-time program of advanced academic preparation and research training under the guidance of a supervising faculty mentor. Postdoctoral appointments are temporary and may be funded through salaries, typically from a supervisor’s grant, or through training grant or fellowship stipends.
Postdoctoral scholar appointments may be renewed annually on a fiscal year basis for up to four years, provided the scholar is within five years of receiving a doctoral degree. Any further extensions must be approved by the Office of the University Provost. Appointments may be terminated before the end of the contract year because of unsatisfactory performance or a loss of funding.
For more information about postdoctoral research scholar appointments, review the Guidelines for Postdoctoral Scholars and the Conditions of Postdoctoral Scholar Service.

T32 appointments and renewals
T32 postdocs are appointed on a fiscal year basis, with appointments ending June 30. The contingent worker form and appointment letter will reflect the current fiscal year.
Renewals are handled in late spring. Supervisors will be contacted to confirm whether they wish to renew the appointment. Once confirmed, the renewal will be sent to the college for approval and entered in Workday after approval is received.
